Why USDT transfers cost different amounts

Every TRC-20 transfer executes a smart contract, and TRON charges for that in energy. If your account holds no energy, the network burns TRX from your balance at the network price; bandwidth — TRON's second resource — covers the transaction's size in bytes and is comparatively cheap. For USDT specifically the contract is expensive: one transfer consumes tens of thousands of energy units, which is why energy dominates the bill.

The single biggest cost factor is whether the recipient already holds the token. A transfer to a wallet with an existing USDT balance consumes roughly half the energy of a transfer to a fresh address, because writing a new storage entry costs extra. A recipient list full of fresh wallets makes the same distribution roughly twice as expensive.

You can lower the energy bill in two ways: stake TRX (staked TRX generates energy daily) or rent energy from the market, which typically costs a fraction of burning. Because the token contract has to create a new storage entry for a first-time holder, which consumes extra energy — for USDT roughly twice the energy of a transfer to an existing holder. This is a property of the TRON network, not of any sending tool. If you can, find out how many recipients already hold the token: the share of fresh addresses is the strongest lever on your total cost.

You need at least a small TRX balance: bandwidth and any rented or burned energy are ultimately paid in TRX. What you can avoid is burning TRX at the full network price — stake TRX to generate energy daily, or rent energy at a market price several times cheaper than burning.
